Taking Sides

This post at Enigin brings up an interesting point (not something which is very new, but interesting nonetheless).

And the point is this: our planet is rapidly being affected by Global Warming. The weather is changing and slowly, yet surely, our world is undergoing a slow and steady transformation.

But here’s where we have a problem–

Not even the scientists in the know can make up their mind if that statement is true or not. Opinions differ from day to day. Some say that the planet is changing and that we are the cause of it, while others are adamant that the world has always been changing, and that us humans haven’t been around nearly long enough to really work out what is going on.

Which side are you on?

Personally I agree with the author of the post at Enigin: in the last few years we have bombarded this planet with all kinds of fumes, smoke and rubbish. We have filled seas with oil and bled petroleum in to the atmosphere at a frightening speed. There are places in the oceans, for example, that are filled with rubbish: floating islands of plastic that go on for as far as the eye can see. Now, ask yourself, how would you feel if you had a great big pond and someone came along and filled it with junk? Somehow I don’t think you’d be very happy about that.

With all that in mind it’s no wonder that people are predicting the end of the world on a daily basis, is it?
